          Ticks                    Fleas                    Mites

Ticks have 8 legs, but they're not spiders, they are specie of mites. It has been estimated there are about 500,000 varieties of mites in the world. They exist just about anywhere - even at the South Pole or at the bottom of the ocean. Ticks are about the biggest of the mite specie.

They feed on dander (dead skin), plants, plant juices and dead animals. The female doesn't need a male to reproduce in most species - she lays thousands of eggs in moss, grass, on plants in wood piles and on rotted tree debris.

Both male and female ticks will attack mammals, frogs, snakes, deer, dogs, raccoons, people. They will jump on you if you sit near them or if walk by a tall plants or high grass. They go for soft spots, such as around the tummy, scalp and legs. They administer a small dose of natural anesthetic so you don't feel them biting. As they bite, they suck blood from your body. Their size can increase up to 5 fold. When they're full of blood they will drop off. In the case of the female tick, she uses your blood to feed and nourish her eggs.

You can spray poisons in your yard but more ticks will find their way into your yard. You can spray poison again but more ticks will find their way into your yard. This cycle keeps repeating itself.

Our product, from Mist Pro could have been named Tick Barrier because it can effectively rid your yard of ticks. Mist Pro  makes an ideal spray to rid your yard of ticks. The garlic will get into the tick's system and will kill them (as it does in the case of young ticks) or it will make life so miserable for them that they leave the area altogether. Just to make sure you get them all, we recommend you spray your yard again a week after the first application. Thereafter, we can spray every 3 weeks during tick season.

None of this does any good if you don't keep your grass short and keep tall weeds out of your yard. If you have pets you must have a fence or your pets will go outside the sprayed area and bring ticks in when they return. Those new ticks will then lay eggs and in a short while you will be infested again

Fleas

In North America we are principally concerned with 5 types of fleas:

Dog Flea (Ctenocephalides canis)
Cat Flea (Ctenocephalides felis)
Rabbit Flea (Cediopsylla simples)
Northern Rat Flea (Nosopsyllus fasciatus)
Oriental Rat Flea (Xenopsylla cheopis)
A number of medical problems can be caused by fleas such as skin problems, tapeworms, severe rashes, bubonic plague and typhus fever.

Adult fleas cannot live without a blood meal from either animals or humans. In the USA they are generally most active during July, August and September. Fleas drop off eggs onto your floor, carpet, upholstery and pet resting areas. These eggs hatch out and re-infest pets and often enough attack humans generally at ankle level.

In carpets, they hide in the lower parts of the carpet fibers and entwine themselves there and vacuuming may only get 20% of them. Carpets should be steam cleaned and or treated with flea treatments which are available through your veterinarian. Upholstery should be vacuumed every other day during infestations. Fleas can hide in cracks in the floor, in baseboards, in ventilators and under furniture.

There are a great number of excellent products that can be applied to dogs and cats that kill virtually all the fleas on the animal and any that may get onto the animal for up to 90 days. These are available through your veterinarian and/or local pet store.

If you encounter a flea infestation you must clean indoors, outdoors and the animals themselves. Your yard should be fenced to keep your pets within any treated area in your yard. All possible entranceways to your home such as open outlets to the basement or cellar should be sealed to prevent mice, rats, squirrels and birds from entering and dropping off any fleas or flea eggs.

Mist Pro works only in the yard to prevent fleas from re-infesting your animals and keeping fleas away from your house.
